Main Responsibilities:

The American University of the Caribbean (AUC) of Les Cayes Haiti, is seeking for “Animal Production Manager.” Under the leadership of the Dean of the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, and in collaboration with the Director of Research and Development, The Animal Production  Manager will manage all activities and projects related to animal production. S/He will play a critical role in promoting innovative approaches to farm animal production including poultry, goat, sheep, beef, and dairy cattle.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement Animal  Production Programs at AUC .
  • Serve as liaison between the College of Agriculture and other organizations or institutions for all matters

related to animal production.

  • Coordinate the Certificate program in animal production.
  • Teach3 credits degree courses and a 1 credit practicum in animal production each semester.
  • Serve as advisor to at least two senior students groups completing their senior projects in animal

production.

  • Help develop tools and data sheets to record, organize and analyze data related to animal production.
  • Help implement research project related to animal production in coordination with the Research

department.

  • Develop and publish extension bulletins as needed.
  • Actively participate in new proposal development, as necessary.
  • Help develop AUC livestock farms.
  • Submit a quarterly progress report.

Qualifications: 

  1. MS degree or a BS degree with at least 10 years of experience in animal production or related fields.
  2. Experience in teaching at university level.
  3. Experience in managing animal farms.
  4. Demonstrate speaking and writing proficiency  English, French and Haitian creole.
  5. Strong interpersonal skills with evidence of making a strong contribution to a team’s goals.
  6. Ability to work under tight deadlines.
  7. Have good working relationship with the agricultural stakeholders in the public and private sectors.
